Christopher Frangione is an advisor focused on helping organizations leverage open innovation, exponential technologies, and the crowd. Understanding that organizations often are reluctant to change, Chris ensures success by bringing all stakeholders to the table through talks, workshops, and market assessments. He is an expert on and speaks often on exponential technologies, the incentivized prize model, and harnessing the crowd, and has testified on crowdsourced innovation in front of both the House and the Senate in the U.S. Congress. Chris has led innovation engagements and workshops throughout the world for private organizations, NGOs, the European Commission, and the U.S. government.
Chris most recently was the Vice President of Prize Development and Execution at the XPRIZE Foundation, the world’s leader in designing and managing large incentivized prize competitions. At XPRIZE Chris oversaw all prizes in design and all active prizes, managing a prize portfolio of over $100 million in prize purses and leading a team of 45. Chris also built and ran XPRIZE’s government relations initiative. He was a regular educator and workshop leader at Singularity University’s Innovation Partnership Program.
Prior to joining XPRIZE, Chris ran the market assessment practice at a boutique management consulting firm where he consulted to CEOs of major engineering companies on all issues related to internal and external strategy. Chris has leadership experience across all sectors of the energy industry, including serving as Manager of Operations and Business Development at Green Mountain Energy Company. In that role, he managed a regional market and defined new business opportunities, policies, and strategies for the retail renewable energy company.
Chris also serves on the board of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and the WayPaver Foundation. Most importantly, Chris is the proud father of two young children.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy from Colby College and Master of Business Administration and Master of Environmental Management from Duke University. Chris is based in Washington, DC.
