About Frangione + Associates

I founded Frangione + Associates to help organizations connect ambitious goals with the strategies, systems, and people needed to deliver them. I work directly with clients and bring in trusted independent consultants when a project calls for additional expertise or capacity.

More people can help solve important problems + TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES than ever before.

I believe people from different backgrounds, disciplines, and places can make a difference when they have a meaningful goal and a way to contribute. Open innovation, new technologies, and shared resources give organizations more ways to draw on ideas and expertise from across teams and around the world.

Tools alone do not create impact. I help leaders and teams bring people together around the change they want to make, set a strategy, build a culture and capabilities to support it, and carry the work through execution. The goal is lasting value for the organization and the people it serves.

About Chris

I am a strategy and operations executive with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations design, scale, and execute high-impact initiatives across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. My work focuses on turning ambitious ideas into practical, results-driven strategies, with deep experience in organizational leadership, program execution, and operational improvement.

I am the Managing Director of Frangione + Associates, where I advise organizations on strategy, operations, and innovation. I work with foundations, governments, startups, and global institutions to build the systems and capabilities needed to deliver measurable impact. My work often includes strategic planning, operational design, and hands-on execution support to ensure ideas translate into sustainable results.

Through Frangione + Associates I serve on the innovation team at Hackensack Meridian Health, the largest hospital network in New Jersey, where I help run programs that surface and scale innovation from within the health system and through external partners.

I bring significant international experience. As Vice President at XPRIZE, I led the design and execution of large-scale global programs addressing challenges in areas such as energy, environment, and global development. I managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led teams across multiple continents, and coordinated diverse stakeholders, including governments, industry partners, and local organizations.

I also worked with the National Geographic Society, where I helped build the organization’s internal innovation labs. In that role, I helped design and lead an international initiative focused on plastics recycling, working across partners and geographies to drive implementation and impact on the ground.

I have held multiple senior operational leadership roles, including serving as Chief Operating Officer in nonprofit and startup environments. Through Frangione + Associates, I have also served as a fractional COO. I currently serve as fractional COO to Veer, a clean shipping company developing zero-emission maritime transport solutions.

I bring meaningful governance experience. I served on the Board of Directors of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and stepped in as Interim CEO during a critical leadership transition. In that role, I worked closely with the Board and staff to stabilize operations, strengthen organizational culture, and implement a new strategic plan.

I currently serve on the boards of Makolekole USA and Global Oceans, as President of the Board of Directors of the Western Institute for Advanced Study, and as Co-President of the Rumson PTO; I previously served on the Board of Directors of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, including as Interim CEO.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Colby College in Environmental Policy and an MBA and Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.

Across my career, I have focused on execution, accountability, and long-term impact. I am experienced in working across sectors, cultures, and geographies, and am particularly effective in helping organizations operate in complex and resource-constrained environments while expanding their reach and results. I have led innovation engagements around the world, including with the European Commission, governments, and nonprofit organizations. I have also testified before the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate on open innovation.

I live at the Jersey Shore with my wife, two kids, a dog, and nine chickens.
